Now that could all just be standard Visual Works stuff, but I do wonder if this is a larger CG project being worked on here. There is also a listing up now for a game and movie CG producer though it doesn't include the "world class movie studio" bit Rather an odd description for itself when they haven't done a CG movie since 2009. SE called itself " a world-class game and movie studio to the global market" in the ad. They had job listing up back in February (now gone) seeking a "game and movie director" for pre-rendered cinematics Square Enix has been hiring CG movie producers and directors this year. which seems to me to imply that Agni's Pholosophy is a full-length film project along the lines of Spirits Within and Advent Children. he describes Agni's Philosophy as a "movie teaser." It renders over 63 million polygons per frame, with the use of very high 8192x8192 resolution textures. I found something on a Square Enix employee's resume that could be very interesting, but I'm not sure how reliable it is. 'In April 2015, Square Enix announced the engine's support for DirectX12, and revealed a new tech demo running on the engine called Witch Chapter 0 cry, featuring the character Agni from the Agni's Philosophy tech demo. All this is to say, there will be 7nm GPUs in late 2019/early 2020 at the latest. The longest cadence in TMSC's history from an announced risk production date to product in the shelves is about two years-and that's the worst case scenario with lots of delays. And it will be a true node shrink, too, with 2.1x the logic density and 40% power reduction.Īs for 7nm, risk production is targeted at early 2017. Granted, there's still room for slippage and the first 100 million chips will be SoCs, but expect 10nm GPUs roughly a year from then. In their Q1/15 report, TSMC stated that their 10nm qualification is slated for late 2015, with volume ramp beginning at the end of 2016. However, 28nm -> 16FF+ will be like a node shrink+, with a 2x density improvement (instead of the usual 1.9x) and 70% (!) less power consumption - that's normally like 40-50% at best. The cutting-edge tech debuted in that demo was then refined and integrated into the Luminous-powered FINAL FANTASY XV, one of the best-looking RPGs ever made. WITCH CHAPTER 0 cry was created mainly by the developers of AGNI’S PHILOSOPHY FINAL FANTASY REALTIME TECH DEMO, a tech demo for LUMINOUS STUDIO revealed in June 2012. For this compromise, it had all kinds of issues like poor power scaling. In 2015, Square Enix surprised gamers by unveiling WITCH CHAPTER 0 cry, a stunning real-time DirectX 12 tech demo powered by the internally-developed Luminous Engine. 20nm was the last planar node for TSMC, and was basically created to ease the transition to FinFET transistors. But it's not a situation that's likely to repeat again. The reason we'll have been on 28nm for four years is because 20nm was a bust, and was only used for SoC (aka iPhone 6). Or you can watch the YouTube capture from Caith_Sith above.Well, a little bit more optimism would be warranted if you had done some research. The engine powered the Agnis Philosophy and Witch Chapter 0 tech demos. The engine was developed for and targeted at eighth-generation hardware and DirectX 11-compatible platforms. Square's Luminous Engine tech demo, Witch Chapter 0, can be viewed again through here. Luminous Studio (, Ruminasu Sutajio) is a multi-platform game engine developed and used internally by Square Enix. The card used, according to Square, was Nvidia's GeForce GTX TITAN X-4-way SLI on PC. The efforts from this project will power future game development as well as FINAL FANTASY XV, currently a work in progress.” "As a part of the technical development, we created this demo using world-class, real-time CG technology with generous support from leading-edge software and hardware providers – Microsoft’s Windows10/DirectX 12 and NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX. “Our team has always pursued cutting-edge pre-rendered and real-time CG,” commented Hajime Tabata, head of the next-generation technology research project at Square Enix. Witch Chapter 0 was created mainly by the developers of Agni's Philosophy – Final Fantasy Realtime Tech Demo with more refined graphics and improved processing capabilities. Lo and behold the Luminous Engine created by Square Enix for Final Fantasy XV The tech Demo on DX 12 Demo WITCH CHAPTER 0 ran using the same engine and. The engine powered the tech demos Agnis Philosophy and Witch Chapter 0. The results of this research "will be incorporated into" the Luminous Studio engine for use in future game development. Luminous Engine, originally called Luminous Studio, is a multi-platform game. The Witch Chapter 0 real-time tech demo was created from research Square conducted using real-time CG technology and DX12 in collaboration with Microsoft and Nvidia. Remember the gorgeous Luminous Engine tech demo Square Enix showed off three years ago? The firm showed it again at Microsoft's Build Conference, this time utilizing DirectX 12.
